Isola Borghese
Embark on an enchanting adventure along the coast of the Sirmione Peninsula to the magnificent "Grottoes of Catullus". From here, we will cross the lake westward to reach the majestic "Rocca di Manerba" a natural park culminating in a spectacular cliff overlooking the lake. Our exploration continues to the first island of the tour, the picturesque "San Biagio Island." This small oasis, once a hunting reserve for nobility, will captivate you with its timeless beauty.
We will then proceed to the queen of the lake islands, the grand "Borghese Island". Currently owned by the Cavazza family, this island has changed names over the centuries, reflecting the various owners who have left their mark: Insula Cranie, Island of the Friars, Lechi Island, Scotti Island, De Ferrari Island, and finally Borghese Island. Although there are no precise references in Latin texts, it is undeniable that it was already inhabited in Roman times. Its history boasts the presence of illustrious figures such as St. Francis of Assisi and Napoleon. The tour includes a complete circuit around the island before returning to Sirmione.
